Design of the Week: On Your Left

There's probably only person I'd want on my left in a fight...even if it means getting lapped trying to keep up.

Show your support for your favorite Avenger with this soft 100% pre-shrunk cotton shirt designed by our artists at MyGeekery!

We finally have our new Spiderman...and it's not who we guessed.

It's a big day for Avengers and Marvel fans in general. It feels like plans for Spiderman have been in teeter-totter mode for months. Now, finally, we have some solid news to latch onto...and it's (hopefully) good news, at that.

As announced on Marvel's blog this morning:

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017.
There you have it! We not only have our new Spidey - Tom Holland, a relative unknown (though if Tom Hiddleston's and Chris Hemsworth's Marvel debuts say anything, he won't stay that way for long!) - but a release date, and a director: Jon Watts of upcoming thriller "Cop Cars".

What do you think? Are you relieved/excited Marvel has picked a no-name to launch to stardom, or were you holding out for Asa Butterfield?

We're getting a Boondock Saints prequel...

Although we're being denied the chance to see Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery return as the vigilante MacManus brothers, an official TV prequel is in the oven, and with the movie's original writer-director Troy Duffy on board to pen the story...well, we're crossing our fingers that we won't be disappointed. Deadline had this interesting tidbit:
Duffy has written a first episode and a bible for the project, which traces the origins of the vigilante brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus as Irish immigrants in South Boston. A search is underway for a showrunner to join the drama, which will be taken out, eyeing a straight-to-series order.
What do you think? Will the show do the Saints justice?

Design of the Week: Jurassic Berk

We know one attraction that would be sure to lure guests to the dangerous dino park.

Batman v. Superman synopsis

While it doesn't say anything we probably couldn't have figured out watching (rewatching, more like) the trailer, Warner Bros has given us our first official synopsis for DC's make-or-break Batman V Superman film:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Released neck and neck with the news that Marvel won't be hosting a panel at SDCC, fans are naturally wondering if DC is going to step up to bat and give us some juicy tidbits about the movie that's kind of taken a backseat to Suicide Squad in recent weeks. What do you think? Will DC get their momentum back up at SDCC? Can we expect an exclusive clip?

Interview: The Malice of Alice & Kelly is Nice Photography

Chances are, you've seen at least some of the pictures below. It could have been on Telegraph, Buzzfeed, or Bored Panda, to name just a few; Alice and her mom Kelly's beautiful creations make an unforgettable impression. While Alice brings the modeling and the acting (one look at her portfolio of chameleon expressions and you just know she's going places), Kelly brings her camera and her eye for the the beautiful, the whimsical, the soft and then sometimes dark. They're a powerful team, but you know what my favorite part is? Their art  - Alice's cosplay and Kelly's photography - is how they spend time together.

If you don't know their family's whole story, check it out here. Then read on below the cut for our interview with Alice and Kelly!

To boldly go...to Changle, China.

Just the other day, a couple of us at MyGeekery were talking about how sad/frustrated we get thinking about millionaires who spend their money on golf clubs and nice cars. Nice cars are all well and good, but...why not make it a DeLorean? Or a Batmobile? And golf clubs? Wouldn't you rather have a life-size Hulkbuster?

The Wall Street Journal
So we rejoice in reporting on this piece of architectural glory built in China's Changle by game-developer NetDragon Websoft. You recognize what this 6 story, $100 million dollar building is, don't you? I'll give you a hint.

It's the USS Enterprise.

"The interior features other Star Trek-inspired elements, including automatic sliding gates between the different working areas. There are also 30-foot metal slides on the third floor that allow quick access to the ground level, and a replica of a Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur nicknamed Stan (after the palaeontologist who discovered parts of its skeleton in South Dakota in 1987)." via Telegraph

Not convinced it's the real deal? Here's a shot of it from Google Earth.
